Interceptor Cleaning

What does interceptor cleaning involve?

Petrol/oil interceptors can be found where there are a large amount of car parking spaces or large areas that are used for vehicles, such as distribution sites. These interceptors are designed to separate oil and silt from the water and prevent any oil from entering the drainage system downstream of this point.

Oil interceptors should be cleaned annually as a minimum to conform to Environment Agency recommendations. All waste removed is disposed of at an authorised waste disposal site with a consignment note being provided. This process includes the removal of oily water and settled deposits to ensure the interceptor filter system works correctly. Some interceptors have special filters within them and these can be replaced when being serviced as part of our cleaning process.

As well as clearing and disposing of your oil interceptor waste, we can install oil separator alarms.
