What is ISO 14001?

ISO 14001 2015 is an environmental management standard that exists to help companies protect the environment. It provides a framework for businesses to use when drawing up environmental management systems and policies.

Environmental management systems 

Environmental management systems vary from company to company depending on their activities, structures and compliance obligations. An average Environmental Manager’s responsibilities under ISO 14001 will include how their company deals with air pollution, noise pollution, wastewater management, storage of hazardous materials, waste management, soil and groundwater protection and other environmental issues.

Most breaches of environmental law in the UK are criminal offences, with maximum penalties of unlimited fines and two years’ imprisonment. So it’s essential that companies develop, and implement, their environmental management systems correctly.
