"We have used County Drains on numerous occasions, both at our old Sileby home and our new Ellistown home. Stuart has always come to our rescue at short notice, and his workforce has turned up on time and done a 1st class job. I would have no hesitation in recommending County Drains to sort out your drain problems. "

On Wednesday 12th October 2016 Rob McClumpha spent the day at Excel London at The Contamination EXPO Series 2016 event. This event specialises in presenting the latest equipment, products, services and strategies in managing, preventing and recovering from contamination incidents. This also included sector experts giving seminars and master classes in specific areas.
Due to County Drains Leicester Ltd having a specialised pollution control section of the business it was felt that this an ideal opportunity to learn about new products and services that could aid clients, both new and old.
The main area of interest was being prepared for pollution and potential contamination incidents. This included a great device that automatically blocks the drain and can be used for firewater, pollution and flood water. This valve can work on a manual or automatic basis and can be powered by mains electric or solar energy. It can also be linked to existing fire systems, so that it works automatically in a high risk situation.
This device can also be installed within any new or existing manhole and can also work in conjunction with others aspects of control, such as PH monitoring sensors.
The one thing that this device has over others is that it completely seals the drain, preventing any pollutants escaping from the drainage system and therefore preventing pollution of watercourses for example or breaching discharge consent. When an incident occurs and the valve shuts, it uses the drainage system as the containment system. With spill mapping etc. it can be established how long the drainage system on site can contain the incident.
This is both a reactive and a preventative solution in one and fits in with our spill mapping and full drainage pollution control services. We are looking at bringing this product on board and making it available for clients to see its potential.
Other areas looked at were the latest non-return valves which are easy to install and require very little maintenance. This can be made in almost any size and fitted to any new or existing drainage. This inline check valve prevents backflow, flooding and sewage odour spread in pipe networks. This product can also be installed both vertical and horizontal.
If you would like any further information of any of the above products or if you would like to find out more about our pollution control services, please call us on 01530 510571.
